Here is a little about the book:
Coming Home to Hope Street
Step across the cobblestones, pull back the curtains and peek behind the doors in the second instalment of The Hope Street Series. Catch up with old friends and fall in love with new ones in a story of friendship, second chances and new beginnings.
Livvy has no choice but to return to Hope Street, the childhood home she left over twenty years ago. Along with her sixteen-year-old daughter, Pip, she turns up on the doorstep, hoping for forgiveness from her sister.
Hannah thought she’d never see Livvy again. She’s overwhelmed with emotion but locks away her real feelings. How could Livvy stay away without any contact? And why has she come back now?
It isn’t long before the charm of the market town of Somerley begins to work its magic. Hannah is opening a book shop in the square, adjoining The Coffee Stop, and Livvy’s offer to help out brings the sisters closer together.
But when someone from Livvy’s past arrives unannounced too, he threatens everything she’s built up since her return. Can Livvy convince her sister, and her new friends, that her intentions to return were good ones? Or will her dreams of settling down and being happy again become nothing but a closed book?
My Thoughts
COMING HOME TO HOPE STREET is the highly anticipated second installment in the Hope Street Series and I couldn’t wait to get ahold of it since I reviewed the first book THE MAN ACROSS THE STREET way back in April.
You know from my review of the first book that I absolutely loved the town and the characters and was waiting with bated breath to get ahold of follow up. I knew I was going to love it. Once again, I was right.
Remember, this may be a book 2, but it can still be read as a stand alone. You will have no problems enjoying the book if you haven’t read the first, but I know you will enjoy it even more if you have.
We are back on Hope Street with all our old friends. Hannah and Doug are there and we continue with their saga, but the main story revolves around Hannah’s sister Livvy who has finally returned home. Livvy (and her 15 year old daughter) arrive in Somerley reluctantly after 20 years of being away and not able to manage on their own any longer. The relationship between the sisters isn’t easy but they attempt to reconnect. Just when it seems Livvy and Hannah are on the right track to recover their sisterly bond, someone from Livvy’s past arrives in Somerley, threatening to wreck everything she’s worked so hard to establish since her return. Will she be able to stay on Hope Street and settle down, or will her newfound happiness be swept away? You will have to read it to find out.
Another breath of fresh air for Marcie Steele. If you aren’t already in love with Hope Street from book 1, there is no way this second installment won’t suck you in. The ideal neighborhood, there is no place I would rather live than in Somerley on Hope Street. There is the excitement of the community and small town drama with the charm of the heartwarming human stories each of the characters bring to the narrative. Steele has written another heartfelt and exhilarating read that wraps you like a warm cozy blanket and doesn’t let go. I don’t want the Hope Street blanket to ever leave my shoulders, PLEASE let there be another installment to this beautiful tale. A 5 star read. I highly recommend this series.
